Lamu County is a county in Kenya's former Coast Province. Its county headquarters is Lamu town. The county covers a strip of northeastern coastal mainland and the Lamu Archipelago. Lamu County has a population of 101,539 [1] (2009 census) and its land area is 6,167 km².[2]
There are extensive mangrove forests in the area.
Lamu County has only one local authority, Lamu county council. The county has two constituencies: Lamu West and Lamu East.
